After the success of the 2019 Steinway Art Walk, we have decided to bring it back this year! The purpose of the Art Walk is to bring new business to Steinway Street while giving a platform to local artists to display their work within Steinway Street businesses.
OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS
Submissions are now open for the 2025 Steinway Street Art Walk!
Deadline to submit work: Friday, April 18th, 11:59PM.
What: original artwork, up to 10 pieces for selection, max. size 48" on any side.
Format: JPG or PNG, single PDF, or links to posted art.
How to submit: Please fill out the Google form below. If you do not have a google account or you cannot access the Google form, you can email your submission directly to Quinn using
astoriacommunitygroup@gmail.com.
Artist selection will be announced by Friday, April 25th.
I’m an artist - what else do I need to know?
Acceptance will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to availability of space, along with content or nature of the artwork. Any work submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
There are no entry fees for submission. Please keep in mind the submission limit of 10 pieces of art. If multiple submissions are made by the same artist, only the first submission will be considered. If you would like to withdraw your submission or re-submit anything, please reach out by email at astoriacommunitygroup@gmail.com.
Original Work: All submissions must be original works of art created by the artist.
Size Considerations: Art should be no larger than 48 inches on any side, as it will be displayed in a window.
Framing: Framing is not a requirement, however, we do need a way to hang your work in the window. If your work is on framed canvas, it should have a hook or something similar on the back to hang from. If it’s a photograph or drawing on paper, it will need to be framed (any inexpensive, lightweight frame will work - we don’t want anyone to break the bank here!) Framed work should use plexiglass or other lightweight, shatterproof materials for safety.
Installation-Ready: All artwork must arrive ready for installation. If your piece requires special installation instructions, please include them with your submission. If you would like to be present for installation, please let us know.
Sales: Artists may choose to make their works available for sale but it is not required. All sales are handled directly between the artist and the collector. CALDC/Steinway does not take any commission and will only provide interested collectors with the artist’s contact information.
I’m a business on Steinway Street - what can I do to get involved?
We are currently looking for businesses on Steinway Street to host art in their front windows. If you’re a Steinway Street business who wants to participate in ways other than hosting art, reach out and we can discuss ideas for your participation!
Send Quinn an email at info@steinwaystreet.org.
Restaurants & Cafes:

Clothing Stores:
Exclusive Art Walk Sale: Offer a store-wide discount (e.g., 15-20%) for Art Walk visitors, or create a “Buy One, Get One Half Off” promotion for select items.
Free Gift with Purchase: Give a small branded item (like a tote bag or keychain) with any purchase made during the event.
Variety Shops:
Discounted Bundles: Create themed bundles of goods with a special Art Walk discount.
Demo Days: Invite customers to experience live product demonstrations or hands-on trials of new products, with special pricing for Art Walk attendees.
These promotions can encourage visitors to explore your store, interact with your products, and share their experiences, all while supporting the community’s creative spirit.
I just want to attend - what should I expect?
Participating stores on Steinway Street will be hosting artwork in their front windows between 28th Avenue and 34th Avenue. All you need to do is walk (or roll - this event is accessible!) along the sidewalk on either side of Steinway to view our artists and visit the participating shops. Check back closer to the date to see a full list of artists, host shops, and participating stores.
There will be a designated kids activity area as well (location TBD), so families are encouraged to attend and immerse their children of all ages in art and community.
